Quite possible future UFC Middle-Weight Champion, Chael Sonnen tested positive!?!?

On the seventh of August, the claimed "best pound for pound fighter" Anderson "The Spider" Silva was nearly dethroned from his middleweight champion belt at UFC 117 Silva Vs. Sonnen. Sonnen gained many fans that night for his near upset against the Middleweight Champion, however Chael Sonnen failed state-mandated drug tests in the post fight screening.

Number one contender Chael Sonnen had an outstanding amount of hype about him as he ensured the world that he was going to strip the belt from quite possibly the best MMA fighter the world has seen today. At UFC 117 audiences all across the world huddled around a television as they watched Anderson Silva get controlled for 5 long rounds by NCAA All American Wrestler, Chael Sonnen. Sonnen had viewers all over on his side as he put a beat down on Anderson Silva, it looked as if the best pound for pound fighter was going to be dethroned and Sonnen was going to take his place. However, the funny thing about MMA is that litteraly ANYTHING can happen, which Anderson Silva was sure to show the very last round with less then two minutes left. As Sonnen was in Silva's guard doing what he does best, Silva happend to slip a triangle choke/armbar on the fighter and forced him to tap. Sure Silva had retained his belt, but Sonnen did leave that fight a champion in all MMA fan's eyes. Many people still believed Sonnen did win that fight, Silva just happend to get lucky, hence the reason for there being a re-match that was planned to take place on Febuary 6th. However, on friday Sonnen was just informed with the news that he tested positive for PEDs, although there is not much information out at the moment, the fate of the fighter is still up in the air.

Ed Soares, Anderson Silva's manager, commented on the subject to the media. "I know he did it to himself but it is really sad, he put on such a great performance that night. It is just a shame it will be tarnished." Sores said.
